May is National Bike Month and this is Bay State Bike Week, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. Bay State Bike Week spotlights the many benefits of riding, encourages bike safety and provides an opportunity to hit the road for exercise. We’re all for that, so here are some of our favorite ways to celebrate Bay State Bike Week
Biking on Cape Cod
The Cape Cod Rail Trail is a 22-mile bikeway that runs through the beautiful Mid and Lower Cape towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. There are many opportunities to stop and enjoy the Cape’s magnificent scenery, and food and water is available at stops along the trail.
Download a map of the Rail Trail, inflate your tires and let your bike choose the course.
For those on the Upper Cape, the Shining Sea Bikeway features nearly 11 miles of trails which can be accessed from different points in Falmouth.
