Barnstable Land Trust

Robert Paul agents not only help to build communities through our profession, we also choose to share our success in additional and philanthropic ways. Today we highlight one of the organizations that we proudly support, Barnstable Land Trust.

Barnstable Land Trust

For the past 33 years, the Barnstable Land Trust (BLT) has been devoted to preserving the open spaces and natural resources within the Town of Barnstable. What started as a 59 member organization has grown to over 1,600 members with 1,000 acres under their stewardship. BLT preserves land that protects wildlife habitat, scenic vistas, sensitive watersheds, wetlands, forests and other valuable open space. BLT also offers land preservation education to landowners, town boards, realtors and more.

One of the BLT’s recent projects purchased and protected 19 wooded acres that surround Lowell Park in Cotuit. After raising $1.8 million, BLT then conveyed 3 acres under and around the playing field to the Town of Barnstable.

Robert Paul agent Terrie Reilly has served on the BLT board since 2011 and was previously Vice-President. Terrie realizes how important it is to preserve the land to ensure the beauty and quality of life that is so special to the Cape. Terrie said, “It serves as insurance for all who live here and future generations.  I believe it is a privilege to serve on the board and contribute to important matters that affect all of us.”
