CHAF - Cambridge Housing Assistance

CHAF: Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund

Robert Paul agents not only help to build communities through our profession, we also choose to share our success in additional and philanthropic ways. Today on National Philanthropy Day we highlight one of the organizations that we proudly support, CHAF: Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund.

CHAF

The Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund, CHAF, is a community coalition committed to preventing and ending homelessness in Cambridge.

In May of 2015 the City of Cambridge published the “Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness in Cambridge” which focuses on the goals of prevention, intervention and permanent supportive housing. But obstacles such as the high cost of housing and a lack of subsidies remained. CHAF has done more than ever to help accomplish these goals, not only by providing financial assistance to those in need, but also by providing advocacy within the office of CHAF’s partner organization, HomeStart Inc.

Since its inception in 1999, CHAF has raised more than $2.2 million – enough to open doors for more than 1,900 households. And, with follow up services from HomeStart, 96% of clients remained housed one year later and beyond. Robert Paul’s Ilona Kuphal is a co-founder of CHAF and remains actively involved to date on their honorary committee.
