This Sunday, more than 11,000 runners will take part in the 44th Annual Falmouth Road Race. Featuring Olympic-level runners, wheelchair athletes, amateur joggers, and thousands of fans, this road race draws participants from around the world. While this event is exciting to watch, heavy traffic and crowds can deter some would-be spectators from seeing the race. These eight Falmouth homes along the road race course are close enough to see the race go by on the big day, if you make one of them your own.
8 Falmouth Homes Along Road Race Course:
The 7-mile race begins in Woods Hole, near the drawbridge on Water Street. 4 homes are near the Woods Hole route, beginning with 39 Juniper Point Road. This Victorian home, set on two acres of land, is complete with a four-story tower.
After completing the first mile on Church Street, before reaching Nobska Lighthouse, is our home at 170 Church Street. This spectacular 4,127 sq. ft. home sits on an elevated location and offers commanding views over Nobska Point and Vineyard Sound.
A sprint away is the next home at 197 Nobska Road. Belonging to the same family estate since 1850, this 2+ acre property offered for the first time with five bedrooms, a private sandy beach, and endless views of Vineyard Sound.
Before departing Woods Hole is our property at 77 Fay Road. This contemporary house offers bluestone floors, mahogany trim, oak-floored bedrooms, high sloped mahogany ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows for great race views.
After leaving the tree-lined streets of Woods Hole, runners continue along the beach next to beautiful Vineyard Sound. Here lies 617 Surf Drive – an exceptional home offering panoramic views of the Sound and Oyster Pond.
As runners reach the end of Surf Drive, before turning left on Shore Street, they will be mere steps away from our home at 47 Bywater Court. Offering great ocean views, this home is within walking distance to the bike path and Falmouth Harbor.
A short walk to the route, after departing 47 Bywater Court, is the former Elm Arch Inn, a 15 bedroom Falmouth landmark, currently on the market. Built in 1810, this unique inn has been family owned and operated for over 100 years.
As the race comes to a finish, sun shining down from above, runners will descend the final hill and cross the finish line in Falmouth Heights. Our listing at 196 Grand Avenue is just steps from the finish line. See the final sprint as the runners cross the finish line to thunderous applause.
