With culinary gems like chef Ana Sortun’s beloved restaurants Sofra and Oleana and bistros like Craigie on Main, a perennial favorite among local gastronomes, the food scene in Cambridge is thriving. And there is no finer way to sample the array of inspiring food lovingly created by local restauranteurs, wine makers, brewmasters, and culinary artisans than by attending the 13th Annual Taste of Cambridge happening Tuesday July 14th. [UPDATE: Taste of Cambridge has announced it is going to the Rain Date of this Thursday, July 16th starting at 5:30 PM.] This festival is a foodie’s paradise with about one hundred Cambridge restaurants gathering at MIT’s University Park (between Franklin and Pacific) in Central Square to serve up their finest grub.
The Taste of Cambridge
The Festival boasts that the Taste of Cambridge is “one of the great food sampling experiences in the region featuring 100+ local restaurants and local specialty butcher, cheese, honey, wine, beer, specialty drinks and coffee purveyors.”
Among the many festival participants, keep an eye out for the culinary offerings from the new Harvard Square destination Alden & Harlow, the Kendall Square hotspot Bondir, and the tiny Central Square eatery the Dosa Factory, which serves up terrific South Indian fare. Other exciting participants are Craigie on Main, the fantastic Huron Village gourmet shop Formaggio, and the Inman Square seafood Mecca East Coast Grill.
Details: The festival starts at 5:30 PM and goes until 8:30 PM. UPDATE: Taste of Cambridge has announced it is going to the Rain Date of this Thursday, July 16th.
Admission: Tickets are $50 for General Admission and $75 for VIP. You receive four tickets for of beer or wine with every General Admission ticket. VIP ticket holders are welcomed into a VIP Garden full of “Lawn Games & Raw Bars, Grills & Craft Beers” and specialty cocktails and craft punches served by local celebrity bartenders. Kids Tasting Tickets are available for $15 each for children 6 to 12 and kids under six are free.
Eat Well. Do Good: Every ticket benefits and provides support to local Cambridge non-profits doing direct service work in Cambridge in alcohol and drug prevention and treatment. The Taste of Cambridge helps to support five non-profit alcohol and drug prevention and treatment programs each year.
