Art Week MA is just around the corner. Last week we took you on a tour of Cape Cod and a few of the events planned in conjunction with this fun festival. Today we look to the South Coast where we profile local events later this month.
Art Week MA is an annual award-winning innovative festival featuring hundreds of hands-on, interactive & creative experiences across the state. Launched in 2013, the Boch Center announced in 2017 that Art Week was expanding statewide. This year, Art Week runs from April 27-May 6.
Jazz Jam at the Marion Art Center

Come see an authentic New Orleans-style jam session at the MAC with some of the finest jazz musicians in the greater Boston/Providence region
Make ART at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library
April 27-May 6
Visit the Mattapoisett Free Public Library anytime between April 27-May 6 to participate in a special Spring ArtWeek Program. Use a variety of supplies in a special Makerspace in the Children’s Department to create your own one-of-a-kind masterpiece! Share your work of art in their gallery and be entered to win a raffle prize.
Tile Art Project and Cartooning at the Library
May 1, 3-4pm
At 3 p.m, New Bedford artist Catherine Carter will lead a cartooning workshop for kids 10+ years and up. Also, in celebration of ArtWeek, throughout the day they invite patrons to contribute to their first community art project that will combine various artworks while creating an annual ceramic tile for the Elizabeth Taber Library.
Creating with Flowers

If you enjoy arranging flowers but would like to “kick it up a notch,” this workshop is for you. Award-winning floral designer Sylvia Strand will show you how to transform an ordinary arrangement into a creative statement and break out of traditional floral designs.
