Yarmouth Summer Celebration Kick-Off Highlights
Cape Cod BBQ at Bass River Beach
The celebration week begins on Saturday June 27th with a fantastic summer beach party BBQ at Bass River Beach on Nantucket Sound in South Yarmouth. There will be local raw bar, Captain Parker’s New England Clam Chowder, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, Cape Cod Potato Chips, ice cream, wine, beer, soft drinks, a cash bar, and marshmallows for toasting on the beach. As night falls there will be a beach bonfire and musical entertainment. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for those under 12 years of age. You can purchase advance tickets online or during the event at the gate.
To add to the fun, the CASL: Cape Adult Sports League is holding a Cornhole Tournament during the BBQ, so get ready to dust off your bean bag tossing chops to compete for the win.
Sand Sculpture Contest
One of the best and most popular features of the Yarmouth Summer Celebration is the incredible sand sculptures that pop up all over town. There is already a very cheerful sun/moon sand sculpture (pictured here) at the Route 6A Yarmouth Visitor Center. The larger exhibition sculptures will be created and on display at Bass River Beach and Chamber of Commerce office. The professional sand sculptor Greg Grady of Hampton Beach, NH has returned to Yarmouth with his talented team to build 43 sand sculptures this year. Awards are given to the best exhibits. Gray’s Beach Nature Walks
Explore the beauty of Yarmouth’s bay side with local naturalist Connie Boyce. She will be leading a walk for nature lovers of all ages at Bass Hole, also known as Gray’s Beach, off the Old King’s Highway. The nature walks take place from 9:30 to 11 AM on Saturday June 27th, Monday June 29th, Wednesday July 1, and Friday, July 3.
