When winter hits, many of us take comfort in our warm homes. But for those without housing, winter can be life-threatening. Belonging to Each Other (BTEO) is a non-profit organization in Falmouth, Massachusetts, providing critical housing support to adults facing homelessness, particularly during the coldest months.
BTEO’s Mission for Housing
BTEO provides transitional housing and essential services to help individuals move toward stable, permanent housing. Their support extends beyond the winter months, offering year-round resources to ensure those in need have the tools to build a better future.
BTEO’s History
Founded in 2015 by concerned residents and local faith communities, BTEO began by housing 27 homeless individuals in motels during their first winter. Since then, they have expanded their services, securing rental properties and providing shelter from November through April. Over the years, BTEO has helped place many of their residents into permanent housing, thanks to community support and dedicated volunteers.
How BTEO Makes a Difference
BTEO offers a range of services to assist those experiencing homelessness:
- Temporary Cold-Weather Housing: Safe, congregate housing from November to April.
- Skills-Building Programs: Resources and training to help individuals secure stable housing.
- Ongoing Support: Case management services that continue even after residents transition to permanent housing.
In the past year alone, BTEO housed 24 individuals, provided nearly 1,800 nights of shelter, and served over 2,000 meals. The organization’s efforts make a tangible difference in the lives of Falmouth’s most vulnerable residents.
