For those in the Greater Boston area, there are numerous ways to honor Dr. King’s vision of service and justice.

  • Serve Lunch at a Boston Living Center: This large-scale event invites volunteers to pack meal kits, create care packages, and support local nonprofits and community members.
  • School on Wheels MA: Create no-sew fleece blankets to donate to students and families supported by School on Wheels of Massachusetts (SOWMA). SOWMA is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness by providing educational and mentoring programs, backpacks, and school supplies.

These projects highlight how small actions in Boston can lead to meaningful change across the city.

A Shared Mission

From Cape Cod to the South Coast and Boston, MLK Day of Service unites communities in acts of kindness and resilience. Whether learning CPR, assembling care packages, or creating blankets for families, each effort honors Dr. King’s vision for a just and compassionate world.

Indeed, Dr. King’s legacy reminds us that change begins with each of us. By coming together this MLK Day, we can make a difference and honor his vision for a better future. In doing so, let’s continue working together to create lasting change, one action at a time.
