Major Boston Developments Underway

With a strong job market, some of the country’s most prestigious schools, and a strong demand for housing, it is no surprise that Boston is in the middle of a development boom with many major developments  underway and more breaking ground by the end of the year. These developments include exciting new residential offerings, new shopping centers, and even new practice facilities for the Celtics and Bruins. Intrigued? Here are some of our favorites.

Bulfinch Crossing

Boston developments

Construction began in January on redeveloping the Government Center Garage into a 6-building, 2.9 million square foot project that will include offices, 800+ residential units, retail and 200 hotel rooms.

Expected to be completed in September, 2019 the project will offer breathtaking views of Boston Harbor, the North End, and the Charles River.

Dot Block Complex

Encompassing a block along Dorchester Avenue in Glover’s Corner, Dot Block Complex is set to include more than 10 buildings totaling 400,000 sq. ft. Included in the package will be 362 rental apartments. Construction on the complex is expected to begin at the end of Summer.

Tremont Crossing

In March, the Boston Planning and Development Agency approved this project at Tremont and Whittier streets in Roxbury.

Plans for the nearly 2 million square foot project include 728 apartments, a BJ’s, and a new Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists.

Boston Landing 

Boston developments

Boston Landing is a mixed-use development on approximately 14 acres of land in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood. Located adjacent to the existing New Balance World Headquarters Building, the site is a former industrial area that once served as the region’s largest stockyard.

The project developer, has successfully permitted the area to include a boutique hotel, retail space, apartment space and a practice rink for the Celtics and Bruins.
