Father’s Day is a holiday steeped in tradition. Since we believe in celebrating such an important day to the fullest, here are some great places across Boston, Cambridge, Cape Cod, and the South Coast you might consider if golf, growlers or grilling fit your family, like they do many of ours!

Acushnet River Valley Golf Course

CityGolf Boston

City Golf BostonIs dad not feeling the outdoors this year? Bring him down to CityGolf in Boston for some indoor swing practice. This facility is fully staffed by PGA experts and offers everything from leisurely swing to putting lessons. Some of the services include Golf Lessons, Video Analysis, 3 BoGolf Simulators, Club Fitting, Simulator Leagues and Adult & Junior Golf Clinics.

Fresh Pond Golf

fresh-pond-golfFresh Pond Golf is located on the Fresh Pond Reservation, just minutes from Boston. This 9-hole, environmentally sound, course is perfect for a father-son game of golf on Father’s Day. This is a first-come first-serve facility, on weekdays, and the weekends can be reserved ahead of time. Because this is a public course the prices are nominal, ranging from $32 on weekdays to $40 on weekends and holidays.

CaptainCaptain's Golf Course‘s Golf Course

A great place to take dad or any aspiring golfer, this course was designed by renowned course architect Brian Silva.  This beautiful public course in Brewster has two courses, Port and Starboard. Two Kettle Ponds on Port course, Starboard course also includes set of “family tees” that are good for beginners/juniors.

Grand Grilling:

Georges Island

Georges Island BostonPack a cooler and jump on the Boston Harbor Cruise ferry! Historically it was used as a Military Fort during the Civil War and as rumor has it, is haunted by a ghost ‘The Lady in Black.’ Explore the museum, tunnels, barracks and bunkers, then finish off the day with a nice cookout at one of the many public charcoal grills this island has to offer. Also offered is a gift shop and small café and counter service serving snacks and drinks, open 12pm-4pm daily. The ferry leaves from Long Wharf and takes about 45 minutes to reach the island, or have your own boat? Call and ask about their 10 available boat slips.

Savenor’s Market

This is a note to tail butchery, meaning all the animals are bought whole and fully butchered by a team of talented chefs. Fort Phoenix State Reservation

Fort Phoenix State ReservationIf dad’s in the mood for a hike and scenic views, this slice of natural paradise is perfect for him.  Breathe in the history of the park. According to local park lore, this is near the site of the first naval battle of the revolutionary war. Enjoy half a mile of scenic Buzzards Bay beachfront and a number of recreational facilities including outdoor grills. Gaze out across the bays, walk the trails, swim the bay, bring the charcoal,  and give him an outdoor father’s day he’ll treasure.

Brazillian Grill

The Brazilian Grill offers a rodizio setup where waiters bring multiple, unlimited different cuts of meat to your table, as well as a buffet offering traditional Brazilian dishes, sushi, and soups. Trillium Brewing Company

Trillium Brewing CompanyTrillium Brewing Company is the epitome of a family run business. The original brewery in Fort Point opened it’s doors in March of 2013, with family, volunteers and three employees. Since then it has blossomed into one of Boston’s best craft breweries that specializes in American Farmhouse Ales. On June 1st of last year, they opened a new open-air beer garden at Trillium Garden on the Greenway, that’s even family and dog friendly! They do not serve food, but guests are welcome to bring in their own food or food from local vendors. It will be seasonal for the summer and will run weekly through October, it’s a great place to take dad for a cold draft pour. There is also a full service location in Canton and a retail location at the original brewery in Fort Point.

The Cambridge Brewing Company

This restaurant and brewery is considered at the forefront of the Pub Brewery movement in the United States and has been in operation since 1989.The CBC strives to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and implements a zero-waste kitchen. Hog Island Beer Company

Outermost Brewery on Cape Cod is located just behind the Jailhouse Tavern in Orleans. Opened in 2016, they boast five house brewed drafts, from their White Shark Wheat to their Outermost IPA. They also offer a fully stocked bar, as well as wine and other beers from around the state. Pair your beer with a pizza or a Bavarian pretzel, while relaxing on the deck. This picturesque spot overlooks the coastline of Nauset Beach, featuring all sorts of games to start a friendly rivalry with dad this Father’s Day.

Mayflower Brewing Company

mayflower-brewingVisit the Mayflower Brewing Company and take dad on a beer tour he’ll never forget.  Founded by a tenth great grandson of John Alden, a cooper on the Mayflower this company crafts their incredible beer onsite.  Tour the 9,000 square foot production facility to see how this fine beer is created.  Afterwards you can retire to the tasting room and sample the array of delightful brews crafted by this local company.  Choose from one on of their many beers on tap and celebrate father’s day in good company and good spirits.
