The Best Apple Cider Donuts across Massachusetts

Celebrating the start of the Fall season with some sweet recommendations. As the leaves change color and you start to feel that cool Autumn breeze, there is nothing more “Fall” than an apple cider donut. Popular throughout the state, our agents have picked their favorites for you to try. Grab the kids, hop in the car and take a trip to the scenic and off-the-beaten-path-beaten path locales. Don’t fill up beforehand – you’ll need your appetite.

#1. Red Apple Farm | Bostonapple cider donuts

Red Apple Farm, located in the Boston Public Market, makes mini cider doughnuts (as many as 10,000 a day) and serves up in a paper sack to snack on throughout the day. Voted one of Boston’s best doughnut shops by the Boston Globe, they source their apples from a family-run orchard in Central Mass.

#2. Atkins Farm | Amherstapple cider donuts

What started as a small produce farm has transformed into a fabulous 80-acre destination for fresh produce, apple picking, and of course donuts! Made with their own apple cider, they have been using the same recipe since 1971 and make over 10,000 doughnuts per day in the Fall.

#3. Jack in the Beanstalk | Falmouthapple cider donuts

Located next to Falmouth High School, Jack in the Beanstalk is a locally-owned produce and gourmet food store. They started making apple cider donuts a few years ago to much success. Our Falmouth agent, Bonnie O’Neill said once her husband tried a freshly cooked donut, he has hooked.

 

#4. Smolak Farms | Andoverapple cider donuts

Smolak Farms is a 300 year old New England Farm complete with orchards, berry fields and family activities. Their donuts are made fresh daily and come in a variety of flavors– plain, sugar, cinnamon sugar and  honey glazed. Not in the area? The donuts can also be purchased online. Falmouth Agent Heath Coker has been enjoying Smolak Farms for years!

 

#5. Honey Pot Hill Orchards | Stow Apple Cider Donuts

Honey Pot Hill Orchards was founded in 1926. The farm has since grown and evolved to 186 acres of apples, peaches, blueberries, and a few other small crops. Their popular apple cider donuts are so in demand that they recommend getting in line early to make sure they don’t run out!

 

#6. Wilson Farm | Lexingtonapple cider donuts

Apple cider donuts are back every weekend in October. Treat yourself, friends and family to a tasty fall-tradition. Those here for the donuts can stay for the excitement with a riddling hay maze or their own potato blasters. Barnstable agent Christine Young has fond memories from here as a child. She even once saw Julia Child shopping here!

#7. Russell Orchards | Ipswichapple cider donuts

These Cider donuts are still made from scratch using a recipe that was invented and perfected in their very own farm kitchen. Not only is it rare to find a cider donut made from scratch these days but ours get their incredible rich appley flavor from the cider that is pressed here in our cider mill from the apples grown right in the orchard.
