Named one of the 7 Great American Beach Towns by National Geographic, and a Cape Cod Top 10 by TripAdvisor, Orleans is a beautiful cross section of the Cape, stretching from the Bayside to the Seashore. Settled by Pilgrims in 1693 and incorporated in 1797, Orleans was named after Louis Phillippe II, the Duke of Orleans, in recognition of French support during the revolutionary war. Originally a center for fishing and whaling, with the introduction of the railroad, tourists began to flock to this lovely part of the Cape, and it has been a favored destination ever since. From the tidal pools of Skaket beach to the waves along Cape Cod’s National Seashore, Orleans is the perfect place for this week’s featured property.
